Workshop – Low Light Photography in St Albans
September 30, 2025 @ 19:00 - 21:00

Here’s an opportunity for the experienced to help others learn how to make great images when there’s not a lot of light. Buddy up, think about principles, think about technique, think about settings and test your skills. Cameras, tripods and cameraphones all very welcome!
We’ll gather in The Boot (just beside the Clock Tower) at 7pm, and head off in small groups, probably returning to the hostelry at about 8.30pm to tell stories.
The suggested route includes the Cathedral, George Street, French Row and the High Street.
Challenges:
1. Architecture: Take a photo of something architectural exposing important angles, features and impressions.
2. Reflection: Take a photo that is deliberately a reflection. There are many shop windows, use these to help you.
3. Movement: Take a photo under slower shutter speeds showing movement (cars/people)
4. Abstract: Take an abstract photo. (E.g. Unusual angles, reflections, silhouettes etc)
5. This is St Albans: Take a photo entirely of your own choosing that says ‘St Albans’
We’ll share the images and the learning at a club workshop.
